When I discover a new city, my love for pastries leads me, among my priorities, to search and discover new addresses. Here are three tea rooms in Strasbourg, tested and approved!

SUMMARY

  1. Ôjourdhui (11 Rue de la Brigade Alsace-Lorraine)

  2. Tonton Gâteau (11 Rue des Bouchers)

  3. Pâtisserie GC (55 Avenue des Vosges)

Here is Ôjourdhui, a quality tea room where it is very pleasant to settle down and take time in a modern setting, whether for breakfast, lunch or even a snack! It is located near the New Civil Hospital of Strasbourg, which houses the Historical Cellar of the Hospices and its treasures. Ôjourdhui is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm and on Sunday from 8am to 12:30pm. On Saturdays, a brunch is offered between 10am and 2pm! Please note that reservations are not possible.

Inside, a large choice of pastries with golden and shiny flaky pastry shells, savory plates and pastries all more appetizing than the others are offered. Everything is as beautiful as it is good and homemade. I had the opportunity to make two discoveries that I particularly recommend:

- The salmon and avocado burger with the traditional bun replaced by a perfect puff pastry.

- The hot squirrel milk with pure hazelnut praline inside, how can I put it...? To taste with a spoon!

The Tonton Gâteau tea room is perfect to meet in a cosy and relaxed atmosphere and to taste small salted or sweetened wonders, from breakfast to the afternoon snack, while passing by the lunch! It is located 5 minutes walk from the famous Cathedral of Strasbourg and is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am to 6pm. Every Saturday, from 11am to 1:30pm, a gourmet brunch is offered. Attention: I advise you to book in advance online (booking only possible for lunch during the week and brunch on Saturday) because the place is very busy, success oblige! The welcome is warm.

Unfortunately, I had an upset stomach when I went there, so I couldn't taste everything I wanted, but I highly recommend the hazelnut and passion cream cabbage, a perfect combination of sweet and sour, with a light cream, crumble and hazelnut pieces, to die for! And there are still many other pastries to discover, which looked just as tempting!

As its name indicates, the Pâtisserie GC offers only sweet things and what a sweet thing it is! Here, all is refinement, as much in the modern and uncluttered atmosphere of the store, as in the presentation of the pastries and in their taste. Chocolate is also available. On the spot, there are a few tables to take the time to indulge in a nice decor. The welcome is very warm. The store is located near the Place de la République and is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm and on Sunday from 8 am to 1 pm.

For my part, I had chosen to take two tarts to go: one with exotic fruits and the other with blueberries and almonds. Beyond their beautiful poaching, both were full of flavor, light in sugar and perfectly balanced in taste. Only one desire: to go back!
